NOUNS


A noun is a name of anything. For examples: pencil, Marcus, tiger, sparrow, London, etc. these are all nouns, 

To find the Noun in a sentence, we ask the question, What? or Who? before or after the Verb in the sentence. 
For example: Maya saw a dog. (Who saw a dog? Maya = noun)
                                                  ( Maya saw a what? a dog = noun)


There are four kinds of Nouns:

Common Nouns 
Proper nouns
Abstract nouns 
Collective nouns 

COMMON NOUN

common noun is a name given in common to every person or thing of the same class or kind. 

EXAMPLE: man, village, river, bank, women, and etc. 

PROPER NOUN

A proper noun is the special name of a particular person, place, etc. 

EXAMPLE: Maya, Batu Kurau, Sabah, Malaysia * A proper noun begins with a Capital Letter.

ABSTRACT NOUN 

An abstract noun is the name of something that we can only think or feel but cannot see. 

EXAMPLE: I could not read well when I was a child. ( common noun)
                     I could not read well during my childhood. (abstract noun) 

COLLECTIVE NOUN

A collective noun is the name of a number of persons or things taken or thought of as one.

EXAMPLE: a galaxy of beautiful woman
